Young Carers
Welcome to our Young Carers page.
If you are a young person between the age of 5 and 25 who helps care in a family where someone has an illness, a disability, a mental illness, or an alcohol or other drug problem, then we are here to support you.
The person they help care for might be a parent, a sibling, their own child, a grandparent, another relative or maybe a friend.
Come and join us for some fun:
PebblesSupport and Activities for ages 5 to 8 years
Activities and outings include movies, crafts,
picnics, outdoor games, visits to age appropriate attractions and local events.
Transport available by arrangement, some school pick ups.
‘Tween Scene
Support and Activities for ages 9 to 12 years
Activites and outings include movies, theme nights, crafts, local sports, visits to age appropriate attractions and local events.
Transport available by arrangement.
Young Carer CatchupSupport and Activities for Young Carers at Secondary School
Activities and outings include workshops as part of Side by Side Project, study group, discussions, visits to age appropriate attractions and local events.
Transport available by arrangement.
Carers YNKSupport and Activities for Young Adult Carers
Restaurant dinner, bi-monthly (even months)- Wednesday from 7pm.
Invitations to Side by Side Project activities, community guests, transition to adult carer support.
Transport available by arrangement.
What, Where and When
Volunteer MentoringOne to one community-based mentoring.
Trained and screened volunteers are matched to Young Carers for individually designed mentoring programs.
Side by Side ProjectEducation, Training and Employment assistance. for ages 16 to 25.
Workshops, information and discussion on:
- Employment skills
- Independent living skills
- Personal and inter-personal skills
